Delhi Belly To Be Released In 250 Screens Abroad

Aamir Khan Production’s DELHI BELLY, directed by Abhinay Deo, is all set to be released in major overseas territories including North America, UK, and Australia, on almost 250 screens, coinciding with its domestic opening on 1st July, 2011. According to the officials of the film’s distributor UTV, they will be targeting the traditional South East Asian diaspora as well as the English audiences hoping the film to be the first break out Indian film that finds universal acceptance. DELHI BELLY has more than 80% English dialogues. However, it is unabashedly a Bollywood film with its ten songs, an eclectic mix of Punjabi, Hindi, and English lyrics and a smart fusion of ‘desi’ and western tunes and instrumentation. One of the film’s songs, Bhag D.K. Bose Aandhi Aayi has already become a big hit with young audiences. The film was developed and produced keeping in view the requirements of the mainstream global film market. In view of this, the Industry pundits are expected to monitor its overseas box office performance with great interest. According to the UTV sources the trailer and promos of the film had generated a lot of interest among the global distributors and exhibitors at the recently concluded Cannes Marche Du film. It is expected to open up new possibilities and opportunities for Bollywood content in a market that has been difficult to crack so far.
