Aamir Khan Takes Over Don 2 Record

If last year Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan shone at the BO with their respective films, this year clearly belongs to Aamir Khan. Why? His film Talaash is the year’s most-awaited film and has garnered tremendous response from the fans. Now the reports suggest that the movie’s theatrical rights have already been sold for a whopping Rs 90 crores.
Yes, the movie has struck gold five months before the release, and has beaten Shahrukh Khan’s last year’s hit Don 2 by a margin of Rs 10 crore. Sources reveal that the thriller starring top heroines Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor has fetched Rs 90 crores for its theatrical rights. The deal apparently got sealed between producer Excel Entertainment and Reliance last week.
But the road to success for Talaash has become a bit difficult now. Insiders say that Don 2 was sold for Rs 80 crores because it was a hit franchise. But with this development there will be a great deal of recovery pressure on the film Talaash, which is directed by Reema Kagti, who has never directed a thriller before. Reema’s first film was the lighthearted comedy Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.
However, when Aamir Khan, the man with the Midas Touch, is there in the film, do producers need to worry? The star signed the film because he wanted to do a suspense drama and Reema’s script sounded interesting to him.
The first trailer of the film is already a hit, can’t wait for the film.
